Notes:

  • This is the second of two consecutive nights Rush played at The Spectrum in 1986.
  • There is a short cut during the guitar solo of Red Sector A, though some versions patch in the missing part from a different show.
  • This recording cuts off towards the end of Neil's drum solo, so is missing Red Lenses, Tom Sawyer, 2112's Overture, Temples Of Syrinx, Grand Designs, and In The Mood.

IDK if this has ever been discussed anywhere else but this must have been a monitor mix for Geddy. The kick drum is higher in the mix than all the other drums, and bass/synth are very prominent. Guitar is waaaaaay back there except for solos. It's in stereo though? IEMs didn't even exist back then AFAIK. Would love to know the history of this gem.

The notes should include the cut in the Red Sector A solo, too. Unbelievably, I've never seen that discussed anywhere. I've noticed it ever since I owned the "silver" of this one! (Mystic Dreams)

Thanks, I've adjusted the main notes above to account for that.
I think maybe due to the cut being patched in on some versions is why myself and others may have not noticed (or forgot) this fact.

I think that is really just due to how the instruments were mixed for this specific venue. Every show had a different mix to account for acoustics. That's why a lot of boards sound weird when listening to the direct feed in a controlled environment.
