Rush Tapes: Lost And Found

For some time now, I've been aware of an old printed trade list from around 1997 that was made by T. Licari, a former Rush trader and collector, who has apparently not been involved with these things for a very long time. On the list can be found quite a number of recordings that have never made it online over the following decades. Some of these are completely unavailable dates, while some are available dates but longer sources with less missing songs. These recordings have all become obscured to time, most are simply due to not having traded as widely as other tapes, and/or never got as far as being digitized during the popular CD trading era.

  • For this post, I've compiled a new list of tapes from Licari's list of what is now considered "lost". If you have any of these sources, it would be greatly appreciated if you reach out!
  • I've tried to weed out any alleged recordings that I could safely verify were then-mislabeled recordings of shows we already have, e.g. Columbus Agora 1974.
  • I've kept Licari's tape lengths and quality gradings on this list, as it offers a the most descriptive account of these lost tapes.
  • In this list I've also added a few tapes that were not on Licari's list, but have been suggested to exist by other people online, e.g. North Bay 1978 and Montreal 1976.
  • Anything on this list of lost tapes that has subsequently been found will be marked colored and bold. Thank you to those who have helped so far!
  • Any tapes marked as found will be available as soon as possible. I've been sent a large batch of these, including lost interviews, that will all take me a bit of time to prepare.
  • I've also been sent several alternate sources of known shows that were not on this list, which will also be uploaded as soon as possible.
  • As always, if you have anything that isn't available on this website, whether on this list or not, any contributions would be greatly appreciated!

Since we now have the Greensboro 1986 tape, can we now confirm if Charlotte is the last appearance of New World Man on the Power Windows Tour?

@PrestoGirl Sorry for the delay getting back to you...
The guy who sent the transfer to me only sent the second tape for that show, which starts at the drum solo, but he said he'd try to locate the tape of the first half. I haven't heard anything further on that yet. I'll send him a reminder about that again after a bit more time has passed.

I just uploaded New Haven 1985 to the Archive. I'm going to start trying to get more of these up over the coming months, juggling around with all my other related tasks on the lengthy to-do list. Most of these need to be split into tracks, which is a big delaying factor.

I updated this list with all the lost video stuff that was known to have circulated in the 90s, and overall changed the color of found stuff so it's easier to look over.

I also just purchased a VHS of the Uniondale 1996 show, so hopefully can get that properly transferred soon. I need to send it to a friend - I don't have a professional video transfer setup.

Otherwise, I still intend to soon upload more of these found audio recordings, I need to take some time aside to split them into tracks. I'm constantly jugging around various Rush stuff.
