• Like most of Rush's early tours, setlist information for the Caress Of Steel tour is minimal and based on the few pieces of documentation available. Therefore, the following information is purely based on the two known audio recordings from this tour, comparing the setlist changes between them. There are several other confirmed instances of The Necromancer and I Think I'm Going Bald from reviews, indicating the songs alternated to some degree, however we don't have any additional full confirmed setlists to compare.
• While some documentation mistakes of the distant past still echo into the present, it's important to point out that claims that state In The Mood was the encore on November 15 are inaccurate, and easily proven unsubstantiated. Additionally, all various setlists for the January 10 concert in Toronto that have floated around over the decades are completely unsubstantiated, and claims of Making Memories are the result of the monstrosity grown into myth.
• Prior to 1977, Rush were still frequently opening for other bands and playing shortened setlists that would vary from gig to gig. However, no full-length headlining concert from the Caress Of Steel tour is yet known to have been recorded, so it is unknown the full scope of songs they may have performed. Four unique reports from attendees of concerts in Austin, Atlanta, and Toronto all claim that some iteration of The Fountain Of Lamneth was performed, however there has yet to be a recording or review to prove the epic was played without a shadow of a doubt. So far, the most solid piece of evidence is a photo from Toronto which reveals the only known capture of the album's rear artwork being projected on stage, which depicts The Fountain Of Lamneth. Otherwise, all other captures of COS artwork being projected feature the front art which depicts The Necromancer.
