Notes:

  • This is the first of two nights Rush played at the Molson Amphitheatre in 1997.
  • This is the same concert that was professionally filmed, and partially released on the R40 DVD/Bluray box set.
  • While there is also an audience video of the entire concert (which I will upload later), this audio recording captures the entire setlist in overall really good sound quality.
  • This is a rare scanner sourced recording. Unlike a soundboard recording that equally captures all instrument and mic feeds, from what I understand a scanner would lock into a single feed of one of the band member's monitor/earpiece. Due to this, Alex's backing vocals are very prominent, giving you an interesting alternate angle to hear just how much vocals Alex actually did. (And how well he could sing!) The songs Alex sings on are Dreamline, Stick It Out, Driven, Half The World, Nobody's Hero, Freewill, and Roll The Bones. Also, the acoustic guitar and some synths sound somewhat distant due to not really being picked up by the scanner, but they are audible at a decent volume. Other than that, the electric guitar, bass, drums, and Geddy's vocals (and Alex's) are all very clear and balanced, thus this recording is pretty much soundboard-like quality. The only bigger standout problem with this recording is a loud steady buzzing/beeping noise during the first 70ish seconds of Tom Sawyer.

COMING SOON

Are you still planning to put the actual show up, that would be great
The audience footage? Yes I definitely will still upload it. I can't remember why I put that one on hold, but I think there was something I needed to fix. I can try to work on it soon and get it up. My free time is very lacking as of the past few months, so my output has been minimal for a while. I'll put a note about this footage on my to-do list so I don't forget.

What a bummer that Youtube blocks that video for those of us outside of Canada. I would have loved to watch it. I was there both nights and would love to relive those memories.

Yeah the occasional regional blocking on YouTube really annoys me, but there’s not much I can do about it. You could always download the files above and play them on your computer or other device.

I totally get it, it’s not you, it’s YouTube. Lucky for me I’ll be in Canada for a few weeks and I’ll watch it there.
I’ll also take your suggestion and download the files to my computer.
Thank you sooo much for doing all this for all of us Rush fans.

Was the video taken down? I just looked at this page through a Montreal VPN connection and it says “This video is not available.”

For those who still want it I have the audience footage, I did a few edits myself on my YouTube channel using the footage.

Sorry, I somehow missed your comment when you posted it last month. I was probably too busy and overlooked it.

Anyway, no, it is still uploaded and is viewable in Canada. I'm not sure why it wasn't working for you. Is this the only one of my blocked videos that isn't working via your VPN?

For those who still want it I have the audience footage, I did a few edits myself on my YouTube channel using the footage.

Feel free to share the video link here so people can enjoy it.
I have a lot of footage to work with eventually, and they're not fun to fix syncing and/or splicing issues with, so they aren't on my priority, but I'll get to them at some point.

Sorry I haven't logged on here for a while. I only have 4 videos up on my channel, synced up to the Scanner audio. I do have the full recording saved on an external hard drive, I would like to share it but I have to look into my options for doing so. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv7NpzzocCqjnuWjTwibRszlRbZ2Ec_Rh

This video was hard to find. Outside of a few YouTube uploads it doesn't exist on the internet. I had to get in touch with someone who had it and I asked them nicely for a copy.

But I do know that the 2nd night is on Youtube. I found it several years ago on this old YouTube channel which used to very actively post Rush content. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7BD41B02CB563B00
