Notes:

  • This recording is mostly complete, however is missing the final part of the encore with Vital Signs, Finding My Way, and In The Mood.
  • The "TA Master Series" version of this recording is missing Red Lenses and Neil's drum solo. (*)
  • This is presumably the second of three consecutive nights Rush played at the Cow Palace in 1984. However, unlike the recording of the third night, there are no indications during the show to help be certain whether this is the first or second night. The various bootlegs of the Cow Palace shows were originally a mess, being labeled differently among all three dates.

COMING SOON

Has anyone downloaded this one? It was taped by Kirit Kapadia, same guy who taped the show on the 26th (TA master series Vol 2).
This one hasn't been posted here as yet.

Hi, thanks for the tip. It seems that one was seeded on torrent sites almost a year ago, I must've missed that one. I'll have it up here shortly.

Edit:
Turns out that new tape is of the same night as the old sources I had labeled as potentially being the first night.
Assuming Kirit's cassette tape was dated correctly (as owner of some of his 90s videotape masters I can attest that his labeling was very poor) then this could help confirm the night of these old sources. That, or the guys who transferred it just matched Kirit's tape with the date of one of these old sources, which were a mess labeled among various dates.

As of now, I've renamed the main post and files to reflect the date being the second night instead of the first night, but kept my original notes intact for now.

That would be great---I've been trying to download from TD for about a week but can't connect with a seeder. Hopefully you have better luck than me. It's probably because I'm firewalled.

@zosojp
Sometimes old torrents on TTD don't have many seeders anymore, so may take days before someone pops online who has it connected in their client. That has happened to me multiple times. Either way, no big deal, I managed to grab it off DIME earlier anyway before I even checked TTD. I renamed the files with proper song titles, etc, and the tape is now uploaded here.

Side note, which I've also reflected in the main notes above, Kirit's tape didn't capture anything after Tom Sawyer, but the older source does at least have Red Lenses and Neil's drum solo.

On another note, I just found out through reading some comments that there is another version out there that supposedly is the real first night! I must've missed that one too... but it looks like we should have tapes for all three nights. I'll try to have that up tomorrow.

That would be nice to have all 3 nights---I went to one of these shows but I can't recall which one although I still have the ticket stub boxed away with the tour program, I'll have to dig it out. Speaking of ticket stubs, a picture of Kirit's was supposed to be included with the download verifying that it was indeed the 25th. BTW, JEMS (notable for the Mike the Mic series) puts out that TA series and they're pretty reliable.
Also, if you can answer, I have 2 versions of the old 25th recording Evidence and San Francisco, CA 84. Why is the Red Lenses/'Drum Solo' longer on one than the other? A 6-minute difference. Is it from the same tape?
