  • The various sources of the Cow Palace shows were originally all a mixed up mess, being labeled differently among all three dates, however we now have them dated properly.

The 2 downloads listed here are from the 26th---Krw_co probably got a mislabeled tape. The real 24th is on TTD and/or Dime as TA master series Volume 97 taped by Kirit Kapadia. You can tell the difference right away with how Geddy greets the audience during the beginning of TBE.
BTW the 2 downloads from Krw_co are a different recorder than the Kirit Kapadia tape (TA master series Vol 2) for the 26th. There is no tape flip between Between The Wheels and Red Barchetta.

I had grabbed the "TA Master Series Volume 97" off Dimeadozen over the weekend, I will add it here and adjust all dates accordingly, as soon as possible.

Alright, I've now moved KRW's sources to the page for the 26th, and added the new "TA Vol 97" release as the download on this page for the 24th.
I did also double check and verify myself that The Body Electric on the KRW source did indeed match with the other 26th sources.

These three Cow Palace 1984 shows, and the various sources of each, have been a confusing mess of dates for years. The only night I remember being able to verify with certainty some years back was the third night, based on something Geddy says. When the TA series released a new source of the second night last year, their information seemed to confirm the older sources I once had labeled as the first night was actually the second night. At the time I knew there were clearly only two unique nights that circulated among the various taper sources.

I can't even remember when the KRW source started circulating, but I'd only found and obtained it earlier this year. I feel guilty for not catching the date error at the time. I didn't even listen to it, and should've at least compared and noticed. I'm usually strict about checking these things. I've been very busy for the last 16-ish months with a side project involving obtaining, transferring, preparing, and releasing a large trove of unheard Van Halen soundboards, taking up most of my free time. Hence the slow activity around here lately. I should be back to working heavily on Rush stuff by March next year. I've also downloaded new alternate sources of several other known Rush shows that have turned up over the last year that I still need to add on this site. Plus I have a problematic master tape of the CNE Toronto 1977 show that needs heavy baking to stop the awful shedding, I hope to get that available as soon as possible.

Well anyways, I'm glad the Cow Palace 1984 stuff is all finally straightened out... and now a legitimate recording of the first night!

I also know someone else who has an uncirculated source tape of one of these three shows, plus the soundcheck... but I've been waiting on them for a couple years now to get around to it, and still not sure when that'll end up happening.
